Office 2007 Sucks Monkey Balls

Ok, I feel better now that I got that off my chest. I was “infected” with the latest microsoft office virus about 6 weeks ago at work – this one is affectionately known as Office 2007. I keep thinking that I’ll get used to it – it’ll all make sense – I’ll learn all the tricks and tips to make it do what I want without 13 mouse-clicks – BUT. THAT’S. NOT. HAPPENING. This stupid application just plain blows. And it’s slower than crap, probably because it so frickin bloated… Outlook often consumes well over 130,000 K of memory DOING NOTHING! I have access to multiple machines – I’ve even run some side-by-side comparisons between 2007 and 2002 (a.k.a XP). 2002 was bloatware as well, but it uses at least half the resources and responds/opens much quicker.

I should mention that I’ve been using Office pretty much since inception. Before that I used Wordstar 1.0, Lotus 123 (and Multiplan – microsoft’s FIRST version of what came to be excel), Quattro, Dbase, etc… And I’m a developer - primarily a MICROSOFT developer...
